On July 29, Fahrenheit 9/11 premiered in German cinemas. Michael Moore managed to take his documentary about the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, and their aftermath to the top of the US box office charts. Thus, Fahrenheit 9/11 became the most successful documentary of all time right after its opening weekend. Now, Moore is releasing the film for free TV without the usual three-year waiting period. In addition to the revenue from DVD sales and rentals, he is also forgoing a potential Oscar. This is because a nomination for films that have previously aired on television is excluded. Moore finds it more important to potentially tip the scales with his government-critical film in the neck-and-neck race for the White House between George Bush and John Kerry. Pro 7 will broadcast the documentary on November 1 at 8:15 PM. The Austrian broadcaster ORF will also air the film on this date.
