On July 16, the administrators of the Anarcho-Punk Board received an email from the file host Mediafire. The forum primarily serves to share mostly illegally copied albums from the Anarcho-Punk genre. This is exactly what the British band Crass took issue with, as seven of their albums were available for download. They sent a complaint to Mediafire, which subsequently closed a whole series of accounts that could be linked to Anarcho-Punk.net. As a result, the world's largest collection of music from this genre, with over 3,000 albums from hundreds of bands, fell into the data void.
Of course, the downloads were illegal, posted online without the consent of the bands. Nevertheless, the frustration among forum members is enormous. For instance, they criticize that Crass did not first reach out to the administrators. The band itself is being labeled as capitalists, accused of only caring about money.
