CHRIST of KATHER is neither a drummer nor a writer, definitely not a graphic designer. Kather is working on all fronts. Some call the grindcore chansonnier annoyingly monsieur tout de suite, while others reverently refer to him as the fastest working man in grindbizz. Both are not inaccurate descriptions for Kather, who had already put together a complete album just six months after the death of JaKa.
MARKUS Maria HOFF is not only the former frontman of JaKa and a Sodomist, Hoff is both and a multi-instrumentalist. On "DAS OLDSCHOOLFORMAT DER ZUKUNFT" he plays guitar, bass, and Hammond organ. "DAS OLDSCHOOLFORMAT DER ZUKUNFT" bears a distinct signature. Kather writes lyrics of the highest quality about the deepest abysses, and here and there, stylistic elements that we know from Japanese combat music shine through.
A new JaKa record does not want to be the OLDSCHOOLFORMAT. Nevertheless, it is, of course, a must for lovers of JaKa's poetic art. Kather recorded the drums in his own basement in Wesel. Hoff recorded all guitars and basses in the bedroom of Robert Nowak (PHOBIATIC). The vocals, on the other hand, were recorded by Kather in Calle's basement bar, and mixed - very old school - in Aarhus, Denmark by Jacob Bredahl.
The first edition of DAS OLDSCHOOLFORMAT DER ZUKUNFT comes in a noble tin can and is limited to 500 copies! Will the second edition be pressed on vinyl? Maybe. When will the MC come? The three music videos ("Arbeitenarbeitenarbeiten", "Autolobbyisten", "Weltgewinner") are, in any case, only available on the CD.
