Even though the German branch of the Pirate Party actually has only one point in its party program, the "Pirates" have often shot themselves in the foot with questionable actions and party members. Now, the party is not exactly covering itself in glory with its action of wanting to organize the legendary Water and Vegetable Battle between Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg this year, only to allegedly cancel it at short notice due to too many registrations. Alexander Morlang, the direct candidate of the Pirate Party for Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, casually states: "We could not guarantee safety."
Strangely enough, the police sees it differently, as they do not share the organizers' safety concerns. On the internet, a non-registered Water and Vegetable Battle is now being organized, and everyone is called to gather on Sunday, August 28, at 12 PM on the Oberbaum Bridge to block it for the great duel between Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain.
