DDP Cancel Ehrlich & Laut Rocknacht

The festival season is starting again, and with it a new chapter for the German nationalist rock band from South Tyrol. The political orientation of Onkelz 2.0 should actually be well known, yet some punk bands are not ashamed to perform alongside such headliners. A commendable exception is Der Dicke Polizist, who canceled their participation immediately after the lineup was announced.

Other bands apparently do not see it that way. For example, A.O.K., BRDigung, and SIK will play alongside Krawallbrüder and Frei.Wild.

The statement from DDP:

Dear people, from August 25 to 27, 2011, we were supposed to play as DDP at the EHRLICH & LAUT ROCKNACHT in Alsfeld/Hessen. Since the inquiry from the organizer, we have been very skeptical about whether we should present ourselves as DDP at such an event. Especially regarding the lineup of recent years and this year, we had a bad feeling about our acceptance.

So why did DDP still accept?
Since our band's founding in 1993, we have believed that provocation can be a first step towards change. Our personal and internal band attitude is always based on an absolutely antifascist and antiracist stance! We thought that with this attitude, we could take a little wind out of the sails of this platform. Hiding has never been our thing. So let's go there and take a clear stand. That's why we accepted!

After the lineup was published on the EHRLICH & LAUT ROCKNACHT website, understandable criticism from you was brought to us. This was a new moment for us to engage intensively with this matter and discuss it again internally. We have come to the conclusion that by performing there, we would help a band like FREI.WILD gain acceptance. We do not want that.

We are absolutely convinced that we have made the right decision. We thank you for the criticism and the basis for a renewed discussion.
