Those of us who are older will remember how we used to stand in record stores with headphones on, trying to assess whether it was worth spending our hard-earned pocket money on a particular record. Today, you can often get an impression of the latest albums conveniently from home on your PC. Some bands even stream their entire albums online.
For example, the Polish grindcore band Antigama allows you to listen to all 16 tracks of their current album "Warning" before purchasing at www.antigama-warning.com. Available until April 10, all songs from the album titled "Order" by the metal band Maroon can be listened to on their MySpace page www.myspace.com/maroonhate.
Complete MP3s of the "Get Some Sleep" single are available from Mono Inc. only after completing a small slot machine game, which involves clicking the start button until you can finally enter your email address to receive the link. Without such patience-testing games, the French band 8control is giving away their entire new album "Catharsis, Act I & II" featuring top-notch hardcore. In return, they hope to see as many visitors as possible at their concerts, which can only benefit both sides.
