The French modern rap metal giants Rise Of The Northstar are back with a brand new single "NERV(E)" just days away from the start of a highly anticipated new tour in their home country (with ten56. as the supporting act). In their new single, Rise Of The Northstar showcase what they do best: a mix of devastating groove, aggressive verses, and catchy choruses. An unbridled rage that has made them famous and thrilled audiences worldwide (including at Hellfest, Graspop, Jera on Air, Greenfield, Impericon Festival, Brutal Assault, Tolminator, and many others).
"NERV(E)" was created during the songwriting sessions for our fourth album 'C4:RFSB!NPW!!'. Back then, the song was simply called 'Song 27', but I didn't have time to finish it before the album was released," says Vithia, the vocalist of Rise Of The Northstar. The song addresses the feeling of having to constantly swallow everything in an increasingly harsh system. It draws a parallel to the main characters of Evangelion, who are "exploited" by a secret military organization called NERV, subjected to violence over which they have no control, and drawn into a conflict that far exceeds their own capabilities.
Vithia continues: "'Calm like a bomb', as Rage Against the Machine wrote in 1999. This line fits perfectly with this song. In the pre-chorus, I tried to push myself to my absolute limits to convey the feeling of an imminent inner explosion... Hence the T-shirt I'm wearing in the video." Directed by Pavel Trebukhin (B2B, FALCON), the video follows a simple concept: five musicians, armed with their instruments, ready to go. "In combination with the production work of Flo from LANDMVRKS, who helped us excellently shape the song, along with his high-quality mixing and mastering, a track has emerged that perfectly embodies what ROTNS is all about in 2026: a metal band," Vithia summarizes.
