British heavy metal legends Saxon are back with "Gods of Thunder" – their new studio album that explores themes such as history, fantasy, horror, ancient mythology, pagan rituals, and the enduring spirit of rock 'n' roll.

Produced by the legendary founder and frontman Biff Byford and mixed by Andy Sneap (Judas Priest, Exodus, Accept), "Gods of Thunder" showcases the band at the peak of their powers, combining powerful performances with vibrant, detail-oriented storytelling. Thunderous bass and drums, razor-sharp guitars, and Biff Byford's unmistakable voice merge into a sonic storm of pure British metal that carries the spirit of the past, present, and future. “We had a blast recording this album,” says Biff. “It’s going to be hard to top this!” Byford's long-standing passion for history forms the heart of the album; his distinctive storytelling brings historical figures and events to life impressively in ten powerful, quintessentially Saxon songs. In “The Bloody Tower (The Ballad of Anne Boleyn),” Byford recounts the politically charged execution of Anne Boleyn, while “Medusa” shifts the focus to the myth – driven by a tight, hypnotic riff and delivered at an unrelenting pace. “Remember the Alamo” charges forward with the rapid energy and spirit of the NWOBHM of the early 80s. The guitar duo Doug Scarratt and Brian Tatler particularly shine on “Temple of Rock,” supported by the solid rhythm section of Nigel Glocker and Tim “Nibbs” Carter. The album closes with “MI5,” a timeless headbanger anthem that connects themes such as the Berlin Wall and espionage during the Cold War.
