Punk rock legends alert at Café Pawlow in Dresden: On October 7th, the cult band Brutal Verschimmelt from Kempten celebrates its 45th anniversary and is already going on its fifth tour of Germany, following tours in 2013, 2014, 2022, and 2024. Support comes from Leberschaden from Chemnitz.
The band was founded in the spring of 1981 in Allgäu, mostly by high school students who had just discovered punk rock for themselves. Their wonderfully nonsensical name comes from a misspelled mixtape sticker of the brand "total verstümmelt" – after a few beers, it became "brutal verschimmelt". With only about 20 concerts, they hardly made it beyond the borders of Allgäu at that time. In 1983, the only album from the original era was released, shortly after which the band disbanded in 1984.
What followed is the actual punk legend: From the short-lived group, over the years, a classic of the German punk rock scene emerged quietly. The re-release of the debut LP in 2013 on Höhnie Records brought the now globally scattered musicians back together – originally intended as a one-time farewell tour, it did not end there for the undead. In 2024, the band released their second studio LP "Alles frisch!", with the original guitarist back on board. In 2026, the band will be on the road with the lineup Bernhard (guitar), Carlo (bass), Max (vocals/sax), Kölsi (guitar), and Norm (drums).
