Following the menacingly driving debut "Maskenball", Braunkohlebagger continues with their second single "Visionen", adding another chapter to their concept album about fear apparatuses and ideological control.
"Visionen" is the manifesto of a preacher, a guru – or a tyrant. The lyrics delve deep into the mindset of a charismatic, manipulative figure who lures their followers into the abyss with promises of salvation, pathos, and spiritual glorification. The language is vivid, the promise: redemption through submission. "Just a gunshot away / from your new life."
The allegory is clear: religious fundamentalism – whether large or small, established or fringe – is portrayed here as an instrument of power. A system that operates with fear, promises security, but creates dependency. "Visionen" casts a dark look at the mechanisms of spiritual manipulation and questions where the line between faith and obedience lies.
Musically, Braunkohlebagger remains uncompromising: the track feels like a ritual, carried by menacing calm and eruptive outbursts. The tone is serious, the gaze sharp. This is not satire – it is a requiem for blind faith and a soundtrack for all who no longer wish to follow.
Line-up:
Felix Buhlert (guitar)
Daniel Feja (vocals)
David Mellen (drums)
Stefan Paar (bass)
Hendrik Rathmann (guitar)
