Here comes the first video single "Maskenball" from the new BRAUNKOHLEBAGGER album "Angstapparat", which will be released on September 12th through self-distribution.

With "Maskenball", the band Braunkohlebagger releases their first single – a dark, pounding track that straddles apocalyptic march rhythms and cryptic battle chants. What initially sounds like aggressive wildlife observation reveals itself upon closer listening as an allegory for a digital reality: raccoons with claws made of bits and bytes, camouflaged behind profile pictures and pseudonyms.
"Strong hands in the terrain / From the forests to the fields" – the lyrics describe a threatening collective that is forming to conquer spaces. They are not predators in the underbrush, but organized right-wing troll armies, bots, and internet warriors who infiltrate comment sections, poison debates, and shift the boundaries of what can be said. Their battlefield: social media. Their hideout: the digital masquerade.
With repetitive choruses, striking imagery, and a dark soundscape, "Maskenball" delivers not only a musical statement but also a sharp observation of the digital age. Between political parable and menacing soundscape, the feeling remains: They are here. And they are not sleeping.
Braunkohlebagger takes the stage with this first release – loud, edgy, uncomfortable.
Line-up:
Felix Buhlert (guitar)
Daniel Feja (vocals)
David Mellen (drums)
Stefan Paar (bass)
Hendrik Rathmann (guitar)
