Finest modern rock, inspired by influences such as Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Paramore, Nirvana, Sleep Token, and My Chemical Romance, yet remains distinct and sounds like Seven Blood.
The quartet emerged from a collective moment of personal crises and now aims to provide the soundtrack for recovery for fans going through their own traumatic times.
The deeply personal songs of Seven Blood reveal the stories of the contrasting life paths of its members. Guitarist Oli Arnold and drummer Anfy Hartmann, who were born just a few years before the fall of the Berlin Wall and grew up in the former GDR stronghold of Suhl, only knew the slow and brutal urban decay of their hometown.
"Growing up in such an environment, in a ghost town, played a bigger role than I ever thought," says Oli. "Only now, when I look back, do I realize how great the influence was."
Decaying infrastructure and widespread unemployment shaped the landscape; the promised opportunities after German reunification never really materialized. Instead, the once-thriving munitions factories were abandoned, turning the city into dangerous playgrounds for the youth long before they were old enough to leave the city in search of something better in life. Punk, metal, and emo became the soundtrack of their disillusionment. "This music really matched the mood and atmosphere that hung over the city," says Oli.
And so, at the age of 18, Oli and Anfy finally packed their bags and moved 350 km north to Berlin to dive into a live music scene that was completely foreign to them.
Germany's capital was home to Azaria Nasiri, but the future singer of Seven Blood struggled to see it that way. The daughter of a Moroccan mother and an Iranian father who fled Iran during the revolution in the 1970s, she spent her youth trying to find her place. "Growing up, there was a lot of frustration and uncertainty, as I could never fully identify with my surroundings," says Azaria. "I came from two very different cultural backgrounds and lived in a completely different one, which always made me feel like I was searching for a place to belong, but never really found it."
It took many years for the trio to come together in Seven Blood in the spring of 2023 – bassist Josi Hille joined even later – as the musicians found each other while each was at a personal, emotional, and creative crossroads. "Seven Blood emerged from personal crises of all of us and the desire to use music to process and overcome these events," says Oli. As the band's vision for a hard yet highly melodic sound was still many months away from refinement, the sole focus in their early rehearsal sessions was to be as open and honest with each other as possible and to channel their personal and collective pain into songs.
The raw openness of "Killing From The Inside" is evident from the very first moments when Azaria sings: "I hate myself / Confused as hell / Don’t know where it came from / Or, in fact, where it will go." These words began a year earlier as pure emotional expression in private journals that revealed Azaria's state of mind, not even as song lyrics. "It was definitely difficult for me," she says about opening up in this way during the very first rehearsal with new bandmates. "But I also felt safe and supported."
Ultimately, that is the mission of Seven Blood: to provide the same safety and support so that fans can find their own empowerment through vulnerability. It's about building a connection between band and fan based on respect and understanding for the life experiences that have shaped us all. And it's about finding peace and positivity in the unique challenges this journey has brought. This is the path of Seven Blood, the upcoming music of the band that reveals the personal stories and perspectives of its members, underscored by riff-driven music inspired by influences such as Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Paramore, Nirvana, Sleep Token, and My Chemical Romance, yet unmistakably Seven Blood.
"One of our main goals was to create a unique sound that can absorb all these heavy influences but is also inspired by acts like Fleetwood Mac and Boy Genius," says Oli. "For us, it's less about how things 'sound' and more about what 'mood' and 'feeling' the music creates and whether it tells our stories. We are still exploring what Seven Blood can be and where it can go creatively – and that makes every day exciting."
"Killing From The Inside" was produced by Anfy Hartmann, mixed by Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Holding Absence, Bury Tomorrow), and mastered by Dick Beetham.
Starting in February, the four-piece band will support Ankor and Conquer Divide on their tour across Europe. Below are the relevant

02/07. Cologne, Club Volta
