Dance Gavin Dance has experienced highs and lows and has established itself over nearly 19 years to deliver enigmatic and distinctive music. Always at the forefront are Will, Matt, and Jon, who create the art they want without exception. This new era of DGD opens up possibilities for fresh experimentation and collaboration, while the spirit of the band remains stronger than ever. Our latest singles "Straight From The Heart" and "Speed Demon" embody the energetic attitude of the current lineup without holding back.” - Andrew Wells
Dance Gavin Dance skillfully merges elements of progressive rock with post-hardcore and an irresistible groove that captivates the audience. With a brilliant mix of experimental music, catchy hooks, and a distinctive sense of humor, they have carved out a solid place in the music scene. In the USA alone, they have generated over 1.6 billion streams and sold 1.7 million units of their impressive catalog.
The band maintains a strong connection with their fans, who engage in the hundreds of thousands on social media. Their own festival, Swanfest, is a standout event that sold out during its premiere in 2019 and its triumphant return in 2022 after the pandemic in their hometown of Sacramento. Last year, Swanfest took place on the East Coast for the first time and proved to be another great success.
Despite their impressive achievements, Dance Gavin Dance still remains in the shadows of the mainstream, which has often overlooked them. However, their consistent and creative approach to music and performance has earned them a loyal fan base and the respect of the indie scene.
In August 2022, Dance Gavin Dance released their long-awaited 10th studio album "Jackpot Juicer", which was enthusiastically received by critics and achieved the band's highest chart placements to date. The album sold an incredible 33,500 copies in its first week alone, achieving multiple top placements on the charts. "Jackpot Juicer" debuted at number 8 on the Billboard Top 200, marking the band's first top debut on this list. At the same time, it reached number 1 on the Top Alternative and Top Rock charts, number 2 on the Top Vinyl charts, number 3 on the Top Album charts, and number 5 on the Top Album Sales charts.
The success of "Jackpot Juicer" propelled Dance Gavin Dance to sold-out headline shows across North America and performances at renowned festivals worldwide. Despite countless challenges, the band proved their strength and resilience, growing beyond themselves.
With increasingly impressive numbers, it becomes clearer that Dance Gavin Dance is among the leading and consistent forces of the current generation in the world of heavy music. As Pollstar aptly noted: "Dance Gavin Dance from Sacramento, California, is not just a band."
