Q: You played at the DIY Festival RESIST TO EXIST in Berlin. How was it for you? Did you feel comfortable there?
A: The festival surprised us a lot, as it seemed to be primarily organized for the crust and hardcore scene. I like hardcore. The people enjoyed our performance. It was a great concert, just like many before it.
Q: I have the feeling that the band, and especially you, needs intense contact with the audience. How do you cope at festivals where there is a large gap separating the audience and the band?
A: For us, there is no gap. We try to involve the audience massively from the very beginning and build an intense connection. We give everything at each of our concerts! I sing the songs as if they are my last words on this planet. I put all my energy into the songs. Everyone in the band gives their all during the show.
Q: A new album from you is on the horizon. When will the album be released and what kind of songs will be on it?
A: The new album is set to be released in October 2012. The album will blow you away! Darian Rundall produced the album. He is a great producer and a good friend of ours. Darian pushed us to perform at our best, and we gave everything. So expect the unexpected.
Q: How will the songs compare to the first album?
A: The music is passionate and real. The lyrics are honest, just as they should be.
Q: How is the punk scene in the Czech Republic, especially in Prague, at the moment?
A: I don't know much about the punk scene in the Czech Republic from past days, as I come from the USA. But from what I've seen over the last four years, the punk scene is tough and wild. You can have a great time celebrating with people here in the Czech Republic, and there are many who carry the spirit of punk in their hearts.
Q: Mike, you come from the USA. Are you planning to play with PIPES & PINTS in the USA?
A: I hope it will be possible to play in the USA with PIPES & PINTS in 2013. We will definitely be playing many concerts again in 2013 and continue to give our all. Let's see where 2013 takes us.
Q: What can we expect from PIPES & PINTS in the near future?
A: For our friends and fans, we will continue to give everything!
ROCK! ROLL! RIDE!
We will play as long as we can! And I hope to see you at one of the next shows!
I have recommended the band to many friends and acquaintances over the past years, and everyone, really everyone, who has seen the band is thrilled. With their enthusiasm, the energy they exude on stage, and their captivating songs, the Czechs are among the best folk-punk bands out there. It's slowly becoming known, so it can be assumed that the band will soon no longer be an insider tip.
Anyone who hasn't seen the band yet is hereby called to keep their eyes and ears open. A band like PIPES & PINTS is not seen every day.
