Asynchronous communication refers to a mode of communication in computer science and networking where the sending and receiving of data occurs with a time delay and without blocking the process, for example, by waiting for the recipient's response.
Connections to real life are not intended, but they inevitably occur, right? After all, Wikipedia knows quite a bit, and the introduction to this review is not that unoriginal. It will be one of the first reviews of the band's debut album.
ASYNCHRON is a four-piece from Hamburg, and they are releasing their debut album “It Will Be Okay.”
ASYNCHRON consists of Tally on bass, Gunnaz on guitar, Thorben on vocals, and Gerrit on drums.
Asynchronous communication is not at all what their debut album is about. The songs are actually quite refreshing. German punk with a solid dose of American punk, a good amount of melodies, and a lot of energy.
The sound reminds me, especially due to Thorben's vocals, very much of the long-defunct Xarecrows from Berlin (some members later played in “The Bottrops” and even later in “Hauptstadtkeller”). Sonically, it fits very well, as the songs are consistently energetic and catchy.
The lyrics, which unfortunately do not come with the nice digipack, are well-written, entertaining, sometimes ironic, sometimes blatant, and politically and socially engaged. The lyrics are far from slogans, and there are no major tirades of hate here. Instead, the lyrics are often written from a personal perspective, certainly with depth but never overly intellectual. You can clearly tell that the band enjoys making music together, and there are naturally some lyrics about solidarity and shared experiences. Additionally, the band has written what is so far the only song about root canal treatment that you can mosh to.
ASYNCHRON knows how to please and offers far more on their debut album than many other (German punk) bands do in their early years.

I hope that ASYNCHRON will also make their way to the capital, and that I can experience the band live. From how they sound on “It Will Be Okay,” they will surely be a lot of fun live.
