Album No. 3 has just been released, and it's all over for the band....
What a shame, I just received my first album from the Dortmund band LÜGEN, and now the band is breaking up after 6 years....
This is their last sign of life, and I mostly like it.
Not that they are breaking up, but their music. Musically, they absolutely resonate with me through their 10 post-depro-emo-dark-punk rock songs on III. The lyrics also convince me with their political, personal, and emotional backgrounds.
This was not just something hastily recorded for a farewell album; deep thoughts were put into it for a 28-minute tape.
Yes, tape, not a CD or LP, these 10 emotional LÜGEN songs are only available on a tape (and as a download/stream).
They also put thought into the tape's presentation and created something really nice, check it out.....
But not everything that glitters is LÜGEN. Even though the lyrics and the music are wonderful, the overall package doesn't fit... The vocal parts, the way the 10 lyrics resonate in my ear, unfortunately, do not convince me. The singer and the vocalist are not bad, but also not good.... Satisfactory to adequate, but when you are so enthusiastic about the music and the lyrics, you naturally hope for great vocals as well. Unfortunately, that is not the case; it's just mediocre, and that's really a shame :-(
And therefore, instead of 10, there are "only" 8 points; vocally, there is a need for improvement, but I don't want to LÜGEN, the band has disbanded, so there's no more room for improvement. It's a shame, really....
