Why?
Because I didn't know the band from Bad Schwartau until February 2022, and they completely blew me away with their first long player “Bomben über Disneyland“. JACK POTT has been on the road this year from Munich to Wuppertal to Dresden to Berlin, traveling almost all over the republic. The young band from the Marmeladenstadt has shown on the stages of the republic that they can captivate the audience with their entertaining poppy punk rock sound.
Today, the band members are probably sitting with shining eyes with their families under the Christmas tree, and instead of “Silent Night,” “Bomben über Disneyland” is being sung. What a year it has been for this young band. Such a year is probably what every band hopes for when they have just outgrown the youth club age.
How it all began can be heard on this live album. The recording of the 12 songs was made at the record release show on March 18, 2022. The band played at the sold-out Treibsand in Lübeck. By the way, that was also where they played their last show of the year. Of course, the show was sold out again. To carry the excitement forward and with good hope that they will become even more famous, JACK POTT has now booked two evenings in December 2023 at Treibsand to celebrate their year-end party there again.
The twelve songs clearly show why the band has experienced such a steep rise. It is this mix of youth club punk rock band, radio-friendly pop punk, and quite aggressive punk sound, as heard in “Roberto Geiss.” It is this slightly naive enthusiasm combined with musical skill and a way with words.
This record is, if it is not under the Christmas tree today, a worthwhile investment in the future. With the gifted money from Dad and Grandma, there’s hardly anything better to do.
