Who or what is ZYMT?
They are five men from the largest pilgrimage site in Germany. Wherever that may be. ZYMT, they are the ones with the smiley on the cover (the guitarist and singer of The Shocks is Smail... Is the smiley a reference?)
What can ZYMT do?
The five men have packed 13 songs onto their debut album. Listening takes less than 20 minutes... and afterwards, you run screaming out of the room!
No, you don't do that. Then you run to the turntable and hit play. Of course, you do that before the 13 songs are through, because they are spread over two sides, although they would probably fit on one side, but what do you do with the other side?

I'm already quite verZYMT in my head.
The band is also marketed as NDW-Punk, which I find inappropriate. Of course, certain NDW influences are audible, but much more the band plays '77 punk and nothing else. All of this with German lyrics and often a somewhat twisted sense of humor. For these reasons, one quickly thinks of The Shocks from Berlin.
For a debut album, ZYMT has done a lot right. Good recording,
harmonized vocals, dominant, noisy guitar, anarchy in gesture and demeanor, as well as a decent dose of hectic. The harmonized vocals often remind you of Smail, the guitarist and singer of the Berlin band The Shocks.
“The Privilege of Misanthropy“ is a fantastic debut work, and finally someone is playing '77 punk with pressure, noise, and speed.
Ah, I really like this.
With this album, ZYMT could become the successor band to THE SHOCKS, even though their videos and homepage seem to target the younger ADHD generation with their quirky humor.
By the way, the debut is only available digitally or as colored vinyl (200 pieces in yellow & 300 pieces in red) and will surely be sold out soon.
