BAITS unleash four new tracks upon humanity with their new self-titled EP, which is released exclusively on tape. Following their first album “Never Enough” which came out in 2021, the quartet from Austria is now back with more.
BAITS play noisy, raucous '77 punk rock with a slightly screechy female voice.
The four songs are raw and energetic. Sonja Maier's vocals give the songs a certain something. The singing is distinctive and stands out so much while listening that it practically demands attention. The choruses and backing vocals are well-placed at key moments, enhancing the singing at the right spots.
With “Keep a Secret,” the third song, the band takes a massive tempo drop and moves into dreamy grunge rock that is radio-friendly but not boring. Here they show that they can do more than just hit hard; they also master the quieter parts. The female vocals in this song sound soft, almost delicate, and are pleasing, with the contrast to the first two songs being quite striking. It will certainly be interesting to see how the band manages to deliver this musically and especially vocally in a live setting.
With this EP, the four Austrians aim to kick off the live season.
The tour dates for 2022 will surely be updated, but what is already confirmed shows that the band is serious about presenting their sound on the stages that matter. Concerts in Budapest, Innsbruck, Munich, and Salzburg are already firmly booked and will take place.
