WESTERN ADDICTION from San Francisco are releasing a new album.
It is their third album.
WESTERN ADDICTION is a band that originally consisted solely of employees from the label Fat Wreck Chords. After all, if you work together, you can also make music together.
Currently, the band consists of Chad Williams, Mitch Paglia, Ken Yamazaki, Tony Teixeira, and Jason Hall.
The band offers on “Frail Bray,” which translates to “frail scream” in German, eleven songs that all belong to the slightly older school. In other words, from the upperclassmen for the upperclassmen.
The eleven songs provide a wild ride through Californian punk rock that is appropriate for their age. During the ride, they stop at the saloon “Hardcore” for a few drinks and a bit further away at the saloon “Stoner Rock” for a quick shot. In between, they also swing by the dive “Streetpunk” for a quick drink. Upon arrival at the destination, influenced by the aforementioned styles, the songs come across in what I believe is a perfect recording.
The lyrics paint a critical picture of people in general and the first-person narrator in particular, describing feelings, illustrating the impact of our lives, but always with a certain wordplay.
Overall, WESTERN ADDICTION offers no surprises with “Frail Bray.”
These are eleven solid songs from five musicians who know their craft and do what they do very well.
The whole experience is more for fans of the old school.
