In the age of Spotify and YouTube playlists, releasing a CD sampler feels quite antiquated. So antiquated that it’s cool again. By the way, this thing is only available as a CD, no download, no vinyl, no cassette, just CD.
For old-timers like me, the repeaters of the old school, this is a rare and thus inherently fine thing.
The last records in the “Aggropunk” sampler series were all good, and the last installment is already a few years old. So it’s time for a new part, especially since quite a bit has happened in the (seemingly ever-shrinking) scene. The label's aim has always been to give a place on the sampler not only to well-known bands but also to combos that are not so well-known yet. This aim is upheld by the label, although the focus is indeed on familiar (label) bands. Some bands have contributed unreleased songs for this sampler, including “Toxoplasma,” “Popperklopper,” and “Kotzreiz.” This makes any fan's heart beat faster, and the purchase is definitely worth it.
Among the bands that can be newly discovered are “Acht Eimer Hühnerherzen,” “Die Shitlers,” and “Arrested Denial.” There are also quite a few bands to rediscover. For example, I wasn’t even aware that “Pestpocken” are that good. The song by “LAK” also surprised me. And the pop-punkers from “Radio Havanna” have delivered a great song with “Anti Alles.” An anthem for summer and happiness, but also for freedom.
The current trend of pairing punk rock with hip hop/rap is also given space.
The sampler unites almost everything that fits into the punk rock drawer. With some bands, you really have to squeeze them in, but that’s just how it is with being different. If everyone were equally different, we would all be the same.
From Rawside to Slime, through Rasta Knast, Dritte Wahl, Terrorgruppe to Acht Eimer Hühnerherzen, the stylistic rollercoaster ride is on.
The sampler brings together everything needed for a good sampler. The 28 (!) songs work great at parties, in pubs, and clubs, and are also there to discover one or another band.
The booklet of the digipack comes as a poster. This way, you can also spruce up your apartment and create a real eye-catcher.
Oh yes, the fun comes at a nice price (Does anyone still remember those great stickers on CDs from 15 years ago)?!
There’s no reason not to grab this!
