THE TURBO A.C.´S are releasing a new album.
The five-piece, which for me was the epitome of a touring band that constantly released albums years ago, has taken seven years to release their now eighth album. Did I miss something in the space-time continuum, or did time really pass that quickly?
The new album would probably have been released earlier, but Tropical Storm Maria threw a wrench in the works. The storm devastated Puerto Rico severely, making even basic necessities like drinking water and electricity hard to come by for weeks. During his visit to Puerto Rico, Donald Trump had nothing better to do than throw paper towels around. This is what help looks like. The island is good for amusement, but when things get tough, you throw around paper towels and deny the dead and the devastation. Why am I writing all this? Well, Kevin Cole, the band's singer and guitarist, moved to Puerto Rico in 2014, opened a pizza bar there, and has lived there ever since. Tropical Storm Maria also hit him and his shop hard, causing the album to be finished later than planned.
The result is thirteen songs that are typical of THE TURBO AC´S. Loud guitars, solid kick-ass attitude, rock'n'roll, punk, sweat, and big balls.
The whole thing is very well produced with the right mix of dirty rock'n'roll and fat sound.
The band hasn't changed their style much, so fans of the band are likely to embrace this album quickly. Those who haven't liked the sound so far will probably overlook the album as well. However, this shouldn't bother the band. Over the past 22 years, the band has built a loyal fanbase worldwide, who will surely enjoy this album.
A tour is set to follow.
