The label "Sn-Punx" from Schwerin in Mecklenburg is slowly making a name for itself, not only with past releases from well-known bands like MISSBRAUCH or a split from CRUSHING CASPARS + C.O.R., but also by demonstrating a knack for a diverse program and bands that don't sound like everyone else. And the label family continues to grow and thrive: New to the lineup is the current album release from ESA-Zecken, who have parted ways with their old label Nix Gut and have now landed with Dirk. It took 6 years for new material from the Schmalkaldener to be heard again.
Now they present themselves with "Wut, Witz & Widerstand" finally again with new songs in the tried-and-true German punk style, showing that they haven't rusted over the years. They say Moin to all the boors and critics, that they don't care about those who think they know better. Punk is the motto on this CD with 14 straightforward German punk songs. A few dreamy thoughts about our time are wasted, from which one can escape just as little as from the city they come from. ESA-Zecken wrap their thoughts in very lyrical texts, without forgetting that one wants to dance until the end and doesn't need a god, a fatherland, or a king for that. We are all 129 A, so wake up already, even if the puzzle of this world is as heavy as the big, old stones. But every riddle can eventually be solved, so that anyone who is just a little attentive can learn to ask uncomfortable questions. "No Nation - no border - so fuck law and order" is the motto today as it was yesterday, which doesn't sound clichéd in a world where issues like deportation and brutal police violence against innocent people are the order of the day.
"Is it worth it?" to devote a lifetime to the greed for more and consumption, because the day your name is on the "White Stone" comes faster than you think. So believe much more in yourself, and make the best of it, no matter how the dice fall for you in the end. Fate could be much worse with you. And so ESA-Zecken take me on a journey with their album, where there is much to think about, and after which I am now also considering what I would do and change "If I Were Germany".
