This review started off a bit difficult; I only had the 7" or the CD as individual files, so I can't discern the order of the songs, and therefore I can only say a little about it. I also found it somewhat challenging to guess the correct song titles based on the file names; for example, I don't know if a song is really supposed to be called ADI... Based on the accompanying cover image, the record also has no title, so I'm just going to hope that this is correct. Now to the music: Quando Quando describe themselves as "Post/garage punk like HOT SNAKES/ Jay Reatard/ Spider Fever, etc." It's funny how different perceptions can be; after listening to the record, I would have categorized them in a completely different corner, musically and sound-wise - at least for 2 songs - almost leaning towards the old (good) Muff Potter stuff, just in English. However, since all these comparisons don't really matter to me, I won't dwell on that much further, but rather highlight the most important thing: The record is really good! I liked all 5 songs immediately upon the first listen, and I could definitely let them play a few times in a row without anything bothering me. Also, the fact that there isn't really much singing in two of the songs didn't bother me, even though I'm usually not a big fan of long instrumental parts. Beautiful guitar melodies with many ringing strings are clearly in the foreground in some songs, often featuring octave grips (if that means anything to anyone...) and the whole thing isn't overly distorted. All songs are really pleasantly produced with a fat and warm sound. I wish I had the record on vinyl, as I can only imagine that as the optimal enhancement of the sound. The cover features a cuckoo clock, for whatever reason...
Overall, I give a clear recommendation to buy this record! If you see the band anywhere, get this thing; I would buy it immediately as well.
