Düsseldorf has a lot to offer, especially really good music. This time we are focusing on the youngsters from Progress Utopia with their debut work “Intenspheres”. This newly formed band of the My Terror drummer has dedicated themselves to hardcore, which comes across as very playful here. This 4-track EP truly packs a punch.
The beginning is made with “Missing the Moment”. You can already tell from the first track that there are no amateurs at their instruments, but rather experienced professional musicians who are having fun with it. Heartfelt screams with varied instrumentation bring the first piece directly to your face. Fat sound that thunders out of the speakers.
With “Seeds of Utopia”, it seamlessly continues with the screams and growls, and once again the explicit guitar work stands out. What is absolutely appealing here is the calm middle passage. There are a lot of ideas packed in before it explodes again.
My God, this is really hellish what is being played here. Even in “Melodies”, the second to last track of the unfortunately way too short EP, a damn good riffing comes to the fore that just sticks in your ear. What else can one write? However, we are already unfortunately coming to the end of the EP. “Balance” once again gets the neck muscles going. A real neck breaker. Nothing more and nothing less.
An EP has been released here that is simply incredible. A perfect production (Tim Schulte), killer music, and a fantastic price-performance ratio. Because this EP is available for free. I want to have something like this on the imaginary turntable more often.
