SHOTGUN SHELL…what a band name, in times when the sky is burning in Syria and Great Britain.
Reading the lyrics of the hardcore band from Fulda, I can't help but think of the images on television from Great Britain. It's not individual lines but the complete lyrics of the band from Fulda that evoke these images.
The four-member band is by no means about violence and destruction for their own sake. Instead, the band digs their fist deep into the wound. Rather than describing the wound, they plunge their fist deep into the flesh and thus squeeze out all the evil. It is painful, it is not pretty, but when you have nothing left to lose...
It took six years for the band, having gone through several lineup changes and being heavily battered in the early years, to release their first EP “Attitude”.
It is an EP that represents the music and attitude of the band as a strong extract.
SHOTGUN SHELL placed great importance on maximum honesty during the recording, rather than a fat sound. This may seem a bit strange at first listen, but it also shows that one can quickly be blinded by a fat sound. The guys from Fulda did not take this path, but sound like hardcore originally was and what it originally wanted to express. There are some bands that still play this sound and express what hardcore originally was. SHOTGUN SHELL are among them, and they show that this sound is more than just a trend!
