Lifesaver – Street Rager (3 Track Demo)
Rock’n'Roll will never die, that’s the first thing that comes to my mind after hearing the first notes of the demo by Lifesaver, a Punk’n'Roll band from the neighboring city of Neuss.An explosive mix between Ramones and Social Distortion is very professionally packaged in the first track "Street Rager". Heavy guitars, aggressive vocals. Everything in the style of a roaring V8 engine, waiting for the driver not only to let the engine howl but also finally release the clutch pedal.
This continues seamlessly, one might think at the first notes of "Freerider", however, it quickly becomes clear that it can also go differently. Despite another high-speed rocker, the singer Phil manages to balance hard tones with a melodic singing tailored to his voice. And that’s exactly what I missed in the first track, the identity and passion. Here you can hear that they are really into the music.
Unfortunately, we are already at the last song, which connects seamlessly with its predecessors."Til Death Us Apart" is, however, more punk rock (ZSK in English) than the two previous pieces and shines with a beautiful solo part in the middle. For me, the best piece of this demo. Conclusion: 3 tracks for free download including press photo and CD cover is already something. Regarding the musical quality, one can really only say that there are people at work here who understand their craft. Very good production that is also fun to listen to, but sometimes the whole thing feels too sterile.
In contrast to the 2005 album "C’mon Fuckers", this demo feels like only half a lung to me. Maybe these three pieces are simply too few for me personally because I know that much more can come.
So Phil & Co… Get back to it. Go to the studio and make a long player.
