INTOXICATION come from Bolzano in South Tyrol and were founded two years ago. Since then, they have not only gone through several lineup changes but have also released an EP and an album. This is impressive, especially considering that this is an extremely young band, with members all under 20 years old.
Between school and teenage romances, they must definitely have a lot of time, because you don't just record so much in such a short time. With “Kill yourself and go to Hollywood,” they have now launched their second album. While the first album was in German, they have not only changed the language for the current album to English, but also the style. Whether this is a tactic or a result of the lineup changes, I can't really say. In any case, it speaks to the creativity of the young pack.
The band's sound is pleasantly listenable pop-punk with some gentle post-hardcore elements. They are neither aiming for particular hardness nor extreme complexity, but rather for melody and a sound that won't completely alienate parents. This is definitely radio-friendly and targets a peer or even younger audience. The band's lyrics mostly revolve around their own lives, how things are, what can be achieved, what dreams they have, and that sometimes it's necessary to draw a line. So, somewhat like the real adults.
The voice of singer Carolin “Caro” Zeller is the most characteristic aspect of the band. She can sing, she puts in the effort, and she sounds good even when she sings with a bit more anger and intensity. She is someone who carries the songs and gives them character. A character that the sound still lacks. However, the band is still very young and has a lot ahead of them. If they don't change their style as often in the coming years as they have so far and continue to refine their own sound, the band could really become something.
