After more than five years, there is finally a sign of life from one of the most well-known and beloved sampler series in the punk scene. The new PUNK CHARTBUSTER is here.

The sampler is now in its sixth round. It features two packed CDs with a lot of unreleased songs. In total, 48 bands can be found on the sampler. The sampler is available at the price of a regular CD. So much punk and related genres for such a low price? Is it even worth it?

Since tastes vary, this question cannot be answered clearly.

However, everyone will find songs they like on this sampler. The range once again spans from punk, Oi, to psychobilly/rockabilly. So there should indeed be a few songs for everyone.

Particularly noteworthy are the songs by BONSAI KITTEN (cover of “Poison” by Alice Cooper), MR. ANDERSON (cover of “Walking in Memphis” by Marc Cohn), VERLORENE JUNGS (cover of “Das geht ab” by Frauenarzt), and DIE BOCKWURSCHTBUDE (cover of “Immer wieder Sonntags” by Cindy + Bert).

The variety of songs in this installment is again very broad. There are several years between the original releases of the songs by Cindy + Bert and Frauenarzt. This also shows how interested musicians are in genre-untypical songs. It is often these songs that make one listen closely, as you want to know how they are interpreted.

Overall, this sixth installment of the PUNK CHARTBUSTER series is not the best I know, but you definitely get a lot of music for little money here. And everyone will find some gems!
