Especially in Copenhagen, there is a large subculture that continues to exist despite massive repression.
And furthermore, SUPERCHARGER comes from Denmark, having already won the Danish Metal Award. Why the band won a Metal Award will remain the eternal mystery of the Danes, just like why beer must be packaged in one-liter cans.
SUPERCHARGER offers eleven songs on their debut album “Handgrenade Blues” that rock hard. The band plays guitar-heavy kick-ass rock that pushes forward with gusto. Singer Mikkel gives the songs a great rock'n'roll attitude. The voice fits perfectly. The use of piano, harmonica, and Hammond organ also comes across well.
SUPERCHARGER could actually be a pleasant surprise, as such bands usually come from the USA or UK. The first songs of the album really come across great and catch your attention. Unfortunately, from the middle of the album, it becomes apparent that the band has little variety in their songs. What weighs even heavier is the fact that the guitar is extremely loud and Mikkel's vocals come across as overdriven. It gives the impression that the band went into the studio overly motivated. The album has many good ingredients, but it lacks the chef who can cook it all into a delicious meal. Thus, while SUPERCHARGER has delivered a solid debut, with a bit more calm, “Handgrenade Blues” could have become an even better album.
