I had heard of LORD BISHOP ROCKS from New York from time to time, but I had never held a record by the band or attended a show.
This gap is now partially closed. “CONSTRUCTION PLANET” is, according to Lord Bishop, a 2-meter tall man weighing 130 kilos, a concept album that deals with all the crap called politics. War, fraud, hypocrisy—all of this is processed by the band, which has existed since 1999, with their own unique blend of glam, hard rock, rock 'n' roll, soul, and blues. Lyrically, it gets straight to the point. Even the opener of the record sets the direction: “War Stopp the War” is a cynical reckoning of the hypocritical American peace policy, but songs like “Genocide” or “Killing ain't the answer” are also tough nuts to crack. Lord Bishop doesn't hold back and addresses the topics honestly and bluntly. However, it is much more than just highlighting grievances, which is certainly not common in this area of music and therefore stands out significantly; it is a grand mix of hard rock-based sound with lyrics that you wouldn't necessarily expect. The individuality and versatility of the 17 songs is outstanding.
Lord Bishop conveys a lot of soul, anger, and sometimes the macho rocker vibe with his voice, depending on the song. This makes listening a real pleasure, and damn...
