RamTatTa - BLACK SHERIFF – no title

A friend of mine probably thought she could do me a favor with this record she recently bought in the Cologne dance hall. I was indeed skeptical and a bit surprised when I checked it out and was told it was a new Cologne group that would be a good tip live. She was right! Folks, here comes an almost new combo from the Cologne scene, presenting their first record on March 28th via HIGH NOON Records and CARGO. This was put together last summer from a ton of bands that have been appreciated over the years in Cologne. What you hear is really more than just good! To name a few bands that are somewhat close to their music, you could place Glen with: DUMBELL, CHELLOPHANE SUCKERS, WHISKY AND COKE... and Tom with: HI OCTAN ROCKERS and NITROVOLT. They mix a decent Speed Rock, Country sound... which is propelled forward with a lot of punch and the necessary polish of punk rock. Right from the start, the stagecoach really takes off, and anyone who loves this genre even a little will be thoroughly shaken here. The 10 tracks are well-crafted and produced quite fat for a debut work. They also have enough horsepower to kick up some dust on the road they travel. The guitars blast one solo after another, and it never comes off as annoying. Now, if you take a closer look at the supporting acts... you'll quickly realize that some of them already have stage experience and studio visits behind them. The aforementioned feedback is also very clearly audible on this release. The inlay is also quite well designed, and the credit goes to Mirinda, Tom's lovely girlfriend, who really did a great job here (hehe, except for a small typo in the greetings to Backwood Creatures)! It's clear that the gentlemen have already played at Sonic Ballroom, and this was also captured with several cameras, to be admired on Myscheisse.com.

My conclusion: for a first release, it's more than clean, and I hope for Glen and Tom that the band stays together as it is. For my taste, it could go even more wild... in the direction of ZEKE or SPEEDDEALER. The fact that it doesn't just run monotonously in one direction is quite good for the whole thing! Glen's vocals would fit a bit "more drunkenly," meaning a bit rougher, like in CUSTOM MADE SCARE. They definitely have the punch for that. The guitars are hammered out 1A, and the SUPERSUCKERS couldn't do it better. The bass also swings with cool moves and heads towards the stomach area to provide the right groove. Since I know Glen and Tom and have followed their musical journey over the last few years – they can proudly look back on this work and say... they've created a great record! Folks, get the record... you certainly won't regret it! My player will definitely enjoy playing this record at the necessary volume again. Song 1 and 6 have already found their place in my playlist. So, clean work, and let's go buy it at the next beer in the dance hall!
