The Finnish band Lighthouse Project is the latest hardcore discovery from the Combat Rock Industry label. Their significantly more well-known compatriots from Endstand are also signed there, whom I saw - if I'm not mistaken - a few years ago for a couple of songs at a long-emptied construction site in Cologne. Although I'm not a huge hardcore fan and prefer other styles of punk rock, I found "Gift" to be quite good from the first listen. In 26 minutes, 11 relatively dark and powerful hardcore songs are offered, which come across as quite "classic" to me and also provide some good melodies. The English lyrics listed in the booklet are enjoyable, and the singer delivers them with expressive intensity. A higher rating is prevented by my taste in music and the fact that there are certainly stronger hardcore bands out there. But the release is solid, and I think they could be fun live.
