Sometimes it's really crazy what submissions you come across. You throw one of those discs in the player and it hits you like you're watching MTV and some band is completely losing it. A NEW HOPE consists of 5 people from the Recklinghausen area who play a very modern yet heavy sound. With 2 guitars, they like to touch on metal and then in the next beat, beautiful melodies that really push through the sound and can excite me. Mixed with hardcore, the vocals are also sung in harmonies and at times shouted in with a hammer-clean screamo style. Actually, this vocal style is not really my thing, as you mostly hear just one pitch totally distorted and can't recognize a single syllable. It's quite surprising to me that these guys have only managed to put 4 songs into an outrageously good recording on a silver disc. It's almost like being teased for something and wanting more of it, but there just isn't more available. It's a real shame, especially considering that the band has only been making music for a year and plays such excellently crafted pieces! The inlay is quite well done, and they should quickly look to release an album. With this amount of energy, it shouldn't be a problem to connect with a major label to kickstart their career.
