Gentlemen!!! Was I in the hardware store or the record shop? This record by the four Belgians is the musical embodiment of a HAMMER! 14 absolutely awesome hardcore punk tracks are being thrown at me, bringing everything that hardcore punk should have, in my opinion. Fast, short songs wrapped in a massively fat sound, with usable lyrics delivered by an angry singer with a great voice. Since Minor Threat and their self-titled LP, nothing from the hardcore scene has excited me as much as this record. Because let's be honest: The classic hardcore punk records that are always mentioned are okay, but sometimes the vocals are a bit too thin (like with 7 Seconds) or the sound is too sparse (like on the first Bad Brains record). But here, there is really nothing to complain about. If you search for the guys online, comparisons to early Agnostic Front and Negative Approach arise. Maybe this helps someone develop a willingness to check out Dead Stop. To comment on the comparisons, I don't know enough about the endless expanses of the music world, but one thing I definitely know: This record will make its way into my personal hardcore punk top ten!
