I currently work twice a week. The reactions to this fact among my acquaintances have been quite varied. They ranged from "What? Working? You?" to "Well, it was about time" and even to "Don't complain, I work five days a week. Two days, pfft." In any case, after my last eight-hour day, I had to comfort myself a bit about suddenly being just a "good-for-nothing five days a week" and no longer a full-time slacker. The best way to cope with that is to spend the money I've just earned somewhere, and where is it more fun than in a record store? With four records in tow, I headed home into the weekend feeling. Sometimes it happens that a little gift awaits me in the record sleeve. A sticker, a beer mat, or who knows what. This time, however, there was nothing but stupid ads. Just a bunch of label record lists and hoodie advertisements. Only one had no advertising inside, and as a reward for that, I'm going to review it here first. This is the new album by the Brits DEADLINE titled GETTING SERIOUS. What can I say about the music style? I read somewhere that it’s street punk, and the record was released on PEOPLE LIKE YOU. But I always find that kind of thing irrelevant. "One, two, three, GO!" and the record kicks off with a fat banger called THE WORLD KEEPS TURNING. Nice melodies, fat sound, capable singer who, during the second track, sounds somewhat like the singer from Dover, and unfortunately, I can't really get into Dover. But the following song TAKE NO CHANCES immediately makes up for that with the same qualities that characterized the first song, only here it gets even better. The singer's voice could sound a bit rougher, but I'm satisfied. As the A-side continues, you get a few more gems stuffed into your ear canal, and soon you have to drag yourself back to the turntable to flip the record. The B-side then continues with a pleasant variety in tempo, but not in the quality of the songs, which is always superb. Especially THIS GIRL stands out here. The following piece is no less impressive, and later on, you even get to hear a saxophone. Oh, God, basically the whole record can be easily listened to and celebrated, and everyone here will find a personal favorite hit.
