FLOODS from Hamburg released their second album on September 25, 2026.
After the debut album "Splitter", seven years later, their second work "Kalter Stern" is unleashed upon humanity.
The album title describes the current world and societal coexistence as it is in many places very well. Additionally, the cover shows an opened skull full of pills. This image can and should be read. It is meant to provoke thought and reflection.
Even the cover poses questions, perhaps even shocks.
The band begins their album with "Monster", which includes nine tracks.
"Monster" hits directly in the gut. Made nicely for the algorithms of music streaming services, it delivers a punch to the stomach right away. Barely recovered, it continues with "Schattenstapel" and the following songs without a breather.
The music of FLOODS is loud. Loud to be heard!
The lyrics are fragmentary.
The lyrics are questioning.
Some lyrics could be poems or news reports. They are written that way and presented that way.
The band makes one think of Pascow or Love A.
FLOODS is very independent. One could say it's the Hamburger Schule taking things seriously. Here, the student doesn't sing about his well-being after three bad oats; it's about the important things. It's about mental health, a healthy living environment, intact nature, and the everyday madness.
It's about insecurity, fear, concerns...
It's about what we were, are, and will be...
The whole thing is melodic, powerful, demanding... yes, sometimes exhausting.
"Kalter Stern" is challenging, just like life.
"Kalter Stern" brings powerful, varied sound that, although reminiscent of various bands, still sounds fresh.
Fuck, the album is like life!
