HI MUM, a four-member band from Nuremberg, released their first album on March 27, 2026. The work is available digitally and on vinyl.
HI MUM has its roots in the band MAFFAI, which has nothing to do with Peter.
As it often happens, music-making people talk to other music-making people, and in the best case, a band emerges from it. That's how it was here, and that's how fate took its course.
HI MUM plays a sound that can be described as grunge or alternative.
It’s a sound that oscillates between lethargic strumming and musical skill. The voice of singer Lilly is sometimes tired, she could also come across as bored, then again angry and full of energy.
It’s a sound that was fitting for hanging out on the couch during the time of Nirvana.
“What do we want to do?”
“Oh, we’re just going to strum around!”
It all seems almost anachronistic to me.
However, what the people from Nuremberg are doing is not bad.
This is a style that still has its fans.
Anyone who likes this kind of sound will find in HI MUM a new band worth paying attention to and following.
