BRAUSEPÖTER...never heard of them!

No idea?
I had no idea either until the album landed in my mailbox and I took a look at the accompanying info sheet.
BRAUSEPÖTER were one of the first German punk bands and one of the very few punk bands, if not the only German punk band, that has played with the same lineup since the beginning of their time. Although that's not entirely correct, as the band existed only from 1978 to 1982 and then again from 2010. And all of this only because someone uploaded a song by the band called “Bundeswehr” on YouTube. So the legend goes...
Now there is a new album titled “Free from all this here.”
The album title is the program.
The band, which was already touring with an organ back then and always behaved differently than most bands, is one of the least known bands from the early years of punk in Germany. Always against commercialism, simply out of principle.
What does punk have to do with adapting to the mechanisms of the capitalist market just to use your fame to pull money out of people's pockets?
BRAUSEPÖTER did what many were too afraid (or unwilling) to do.
After so many years of existence, the band says they are free from all this here. So is the album, which was released on November 14, 2025.
The twelve songs are basically a kind of potpourri.
There are songs that sound like NDW.
There are songs that are almost pleasing with beautiful melodies.
There are songs that are located somewhere in the New Wave.
There are also punk rock songs.
BRAUSEPÖTER simply do what they feel like. That is consistent and so rare (in today's time) that there should be an award for it, which the band would surely not want to accept.
“Free from all this here” is perhaps the freest album that has been created in recent years. An unconventional, yet easy-to-listen-to album by a band that consciously or unconsciously evades the rules of the market and is aware of its underground status without seeing it as a necessity.
BRAUSEPÖTER are quieter, are different from the others.
BRAUSEPÖTER are the history, present, and future of punk.
