“Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” – WTF – What The Fuck –
“Whiskey Tango Foxtrot”, the new album by the English Oi!-streetpunk band BOOZE & GLORY, is as entertaining as ever; the 37 minutes of playtime of the 6th album fly by in no time, and the first song “Boys will be boys” starts again. The song hits you right in the blood, just as you’ve known BOOZE & GLORY for 15 years.
“Rocky Road” and “Mad World” kick off with a powerful drum part, then screw themselves into your ears with a fat guitar or bass riff.
Shane MacGowan style, “Family isn’t always blood” starts, and in the best THE POGUES meets streetpunk manner, you can only celebrate this song, sing along, and raise a glass.
“We are the bad boys, bad boys! With hearts made of gold and broken souls. Oooooh ooooooh! Go go go, nothing’s gonna stop us. Oooooh ooooooh! At least tonight!” The chorus of the fifth song “Brace Up” reflects the 11 songs of “WTF” quite well.
“Jimmy Fake” and “Do yourself a favour” flow along with the album, while the eighth song “I’d die for you” is already significantly more striking, another real sing-along song “I would die, I would die for you!” Another awesome highlight on the album! Melodically and unanimously, it continues with “Legends”, another song you can sing along to and that lifts the mood. Simply great.
With “Till the last breath”, it goes back into classic streetpunk, to finally end the album with the melancholic “The one and only” (….every punk girl’s dream… and the anti-aging cream)…. (and “Boys will be boys” starts again).
Once again, a super awesome album by BOOZE & GLORY, (almost) without being able to catch a breath…
