MÄNNI is not releasing an album or a single.
So what is it then?
In the past, this was called a mini-album.
The fun is called “The Happy Album” and the songs are titled among others “Never Again in Life”, “Such a Great Life”, “I’m Doing Well” or “People - I Love Them”.
It may sound like summer, palm trees, and sunshine, but you can already sense that it’s not really all that cheerful.
MÄNNI seems to want to process something with the six songs.
Or is he desperately trying to spread good vibes?
Probably both together. We know how it goes, being polite, smiling, but all with a fist in the pocket. Totally broke but fun to the power of ten.
That’s the ambivalence of life.
Or endorphins vs. depression.

The special thing about MÄNNI's releases is that he played all the instruments himself, as well as wrote the music and the lyrics. All by himself. And it sounds really, really good.
For those who don’t know MÄNNI yet, he started with “Longing for Tomorrow”, a screamo band from Aachen. As life goes, and Aachen isn’t that big, he supported his buddies from Aachen, Antilopen Gang, during the recordings for the bonus album “Atombombe auf Deutschland”, which was included with the album “Anarchie und Alltag”.
He never lost sight of his solo project MÄNNI, so it’s hardly surprising that the six songs from “The Happy Album” are very solid, captivating punk rock.
Good lyrics, good music... what more could you want?
And MÄNNI, I can totally relate to your song “People - I Love Them”. It’s as if you wrote this piece for me.
