SEIZED UP from Santa Cruz, California released their first album during the COVID-19 pandemic and are now following up.
With “Modify the sacred“, an album is set to be released on August 9, 2024, that packs a punch.
The ten songs are an explosive and, above all, powerful mix of frantic hardcore/skatecore in the style of RKL (Rich Kids on LSD) and '80s hardcore with today's heavy production.
The songs have impact.
The songs have strength.
The songs have anger.
Alongside anger, a certain cynicism can also be discerned in the lyrics. One can't really blame them. Given the state of the world, it's not hard to become cynical.
Cynicism is very helpful for many people to avoid losing their minds. Music is also helpful for many people. It seems to be the case for SEIZED UP as well.
The band pulls no punches on their second album. Only two songs are longer than 2:30 minutes. This is a testament to old school, and SEIZED UP embodies that. The band consists of members who are also involved with Good Riddance, The Distillers, and Fast Asleep. Those are not bad references, and the album reflects that.
With “Modify the sacred“, SEIZED UP has created a work that presents impact, strength, and anger in an energetic recording for the audience.
The band is currently on a small European tour and hopefully will return to Europe soon to present their new album live.
The label has provided the band with a black vinyl edition as well as three additional editions in different colors. This will delight fans and collectors.
