Just a week ago, on May 22, 2024, I reviewed the 2022 album by BITTER (the review can be read at ramtatta.de: https://www.ramtatta.de/s/reviews/f/details/id/10129/) and already more is coming.
The Hamburg band, truly authentic with three "T's", is releasing a limited 7" with only three hundred copies on June 6, 2024.
So perk up your ears, loosen your muscles, and turn all the knobs to the right.
It kicks off with "29 Spooner Street".
Although 'kicks off' is an understatement. From 0 to 100...immediately.
"29 Spooner Street" has an incredibly driving drumbeat, where the guitar, with its partly intricate playing, can hardly keep up, and the vocals sound a bit too slow for the song at times. Nevertheless, the song is not bad; on the contrary, it's quite good, thanks mainly to the instrumental section. Still, I think it might have been better to let the drummer go to the bathroom before the recording.
"Dr. Clumsy" starts slowly. A little breathing room. Am I hearing Nu Metal with a hardcore twist? Vocals with a hip-hop influence, then with clean singing, as if peeking into the mainstream. Lyrically, the song describes the feeling of hitting the dance floor (or alternatively pogomob or circle pit) after a hard day and really letting loose. Clearing your head. "Dr. Clumsy" is a completely different caliber than "29 Spooner Street". Somewhere between Nu Metal, hardcore, and Good Charlotte.
Okay, let's forgive the Good Charlotte reference.
