STRUNG OUT is formed.
35 years and 10 albums later, STRUNG OUT releases their 11th album, which is titled “Dead Rebellion.” The album title can almost be seen as a kind of conclusion of the last 35 years.
What has changed?
What victories have been achieved?
Well, I don't want to paint everything in a negative light, and one must say that some things have indeed improved, but the circumstances have not changed much overall, and the old horn of capitalism is still alive.
The lyrics of the twelve songs are by no means a reckoning. They are rather similar to what they were 10, 15, 20 years ago.
It is still about living a self-determined life.
It is still about a certain degree of being different from other people.
It is still about love and what it does to us
It is still about the chains that want to grip us
The band gives the impression that they are not yet satisfied. As if there is still anger in the belly and hunger in the soul. There is still life that wants to be lived.
Musically, the band has remained more than true to themselves.
It is this unique mix that STRUNG OUT has played from the very beginning and that has been stylistically defining. Punk rock, paired with metal riffs, plenty of catchy melodies, choruses, and a lot of catchiness. They have perfected their style. You can hear that on this album, which in its quieter moments may even sound a bit wistful, disillusioned. Life experience shines through.
Overall, this album is still a blast and shows why STRUNG OUT are still so important. They are still here and they are still fun.
