Berlin Diskret (Punk/Wave; Berlin) - new album -Erinnere Dich- (release date: 18.08.23)

Dear reader, the late-seventies NDW punk scene has called and wants back the hits it never wrote. In their third incarnation, the Berlin supergroup Berlin Diskret, led by Don Lotze, Asphalt Tiger, and The Artist Formerly Known As Metal Warrior, opens a new chapter with the charming new frontwoman Elli. Asphalt Tiger contributed half of the confidently cheeky lyrics, and as a prominent figure in the Neukölln scene, Elli also has a delightfully rough mouth that delivers one lyrical highlight after another across the 14 excellent songs of "Erinnere Dich," where nearly everyone and everything gets their due. The band plays as if the last 40 years never happened. Razor-sharp guitar licks meet wonderfully thumping bass lines, punchy shooting gallery action, delightfully whiny backing vocals, and repeatedly delicious surprises in the form of synths, harmonicas, tambourines, and charmingly repurposed, not entirely unknown New Wave riffs. Combos like Östro 430, Hans-A-Plast, Bärchen & Die Milchbubies, early Abwärts, and very early Cure lovingly peek around every corner of Berlin Diskret, while effortlessly shaking out their enchanting third and simultaneously best album, "Erinnere Dich."
