Dark cloud approaching - Black Magic Six will release their fifth album in September, new single Blood of Babylon now available
The title of the upcoming album Black Cloud Descending by Black Magic Six encapsulates the mood and thoughts of its creators during the album's creation. It tells stories of constant flight, of accepting defeats, of the fates of outcasts, failures, and drunks. Stories of the wiser, exaggerated lies, vague rumors, blurred states, and suspicious circumstances - even the thought in the back of the mind about the possibility of redemption while standing on the edge of a cliff, just before falling in; it’s all there.
The first single from the album, Blood of Babylon, is a garage rock song about the relationship between Sam Berkowitz and Sam Carr's talking dog.

The lyrical themes of the upcoming album move between reality and the imaginary world; the memory of moments in Belo Horizonte, how to use the powder that protects one from the evil eye, what it feels like to wonder in the same alleys with the werewolf of Istanbul, or to safely dive to the bottom of a pond in North Savo.
Musically, the album walks a narrow path. All sounds heard on Black Cloud Descending were produced by Taskinen and Motherfuckin' Japa. Sure, there are two exceptions; the gong at the end of Werewolf of Istanbul was recorded by Sakke Koivula at home, and the church bells in the outro of Full House Blues were rung by unknowns. The earlier albums of BM6 featured many singers and other guests playing guitar, drums, and harmonica. People who could be called real musicians. These last albums were softer, more versatile, and perhaps even livelier. This time, there is only the core: the drummer and the singing guitarist. The result is rougher, coarser, and more unrefined than before.
Black Cloud Descending will be released on September 1 on vinyl, CD, and digital platforms. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed in 2022-2023 by Mitro Kylliäinen at Kung Fu Audio together with BM6. The original artwork for the album cover comes from Greger Grönholm. The band will play selected live shows to celebrate the new album in Finland, Germany, Denmark, and Spain. The dates for these concerts will be announced shortly before the album's release.
