Wick writes about her album: After playing in a punk band for many years, I decided to record an acoustic solo album. I have always been a fan of country-style guitars and songs that say a lot with little. It took several attempts and persuasion until I finally had the courage to focus on the essentials, and so I went to Antwerp to Tim van Doorn's Big Dog Studio to record 7 songs. I asked my former bandmate Patrick Schappert to contribute additional guitars and bass for extra licks, and in this way, we improvised and experimented. Tim's knowledge and skills did the rest. The first single "Dice" is a song I wrote for my friend Lampje. It is about loss. About how people want you to get back on your feet as quickly as possible while you just want to hold on to the feeling of grief because that is all that is still alive and strong: Everything that is loved never leaves the house. Other songs deal with demons and how to fight them, how the world should be but never is, angels and punks, and that honesty is the rarest commodity in the 21st century.
The songs were recorded at Big Dog Recordings, Antwerp, and mixed by Tim van Doorn. The CD will be released in a four-panel digipack with an 8-page booklet. Design by Rey Bravo. Available only at wickbambix.com, live shows, and through Rookie Records.
