The festival returns in 2022 in grand style to its pre-COVID festival format! With a packed lineup of local and emerging music acts. For the very first time, the festival will be extended to two full days and will feature a new afterparty in collaboration with the Sonntagsinstitut Kollektiv.
After two consecutive years in which Bang On hosted a concert series with limited capacity outdoors, the two-day festival will take place this fall (September 30 - October 1, 2022) at the accessible venues Marie-Antoinette and Fitzroy. As always, Bang On presents a wide range of music styles and emphasizes inclusion, particularly advocating for FLTQI and BIPOC artists.
At the heart of the 2022 festival are the Berlin-based South African artist Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys, the dark cinematic pop act Odd Beholder, and the producer collaboration Zoom Zoom Rentals. In addition to a lineup of hot post-punk, mutated hip-hop, thick basses, and crisp beats, this year will also see two brand new artists take the stage. The winking duo Baby Smith will make their Berlin debut at Bang On, and non-binary artist TheOtherWithin will present their melancholic, experimental tracks to a live audience for the first time.
Also new in 2022 is the afterparty collaboration between Bang On and Sonntagsinstitut Kollektiv. The music and event collective brings its typical party crew, including Prozecca and THF-Radio regular Ronja, with plenty of club tunes, riot grrrl punk, and 90s pop.
