Ferris MC, the "Rhyme Monster" named Sascha Reimann, started his career in difficult family circumstances and under the worst conditions. In his autobiography, he reflects on his development from the pale skinny boy from a Bremen ghetto suburb with a penchant for increased grass consumption to a serious (but still drug-prone) musician in Hamburg who gained greater recognition in the 90s.
With a light-hearted tendency towards self-irony, Ferris takes readers back to the beginnings of his career, to the time of the Mongo Clikke and the rising hip-hop scene in Hamburg. To the phase where he buries his alter ego Ferris MC, goes through rehab, joins and leaves Deichkind, and much more.

Because the last few years have gone anything but planned. "When I regained strength after the separation from Deichkind and wanted to focus on my solo career with my album 'Failed Asymmetry', suddenly Corona hit," Ferris recalls. "I had a few DJ gigs and some film shoots. But then the sets were closed, the clubs shut down, and my tour was postponed twice." Along with the emotional burden, there was now also the financial strain: basic security, emergency aid, struggling at the edge of subsistence. "That wasn't my first crisis, but I haven't wandered through such a deep valley in a long time as I did at that time."
But Ferris wouldn't be Ferris if he let all of that get him down. Especially since the album enters the official charts at number 22 and is celebrated by critics. In SWISS, Ferris also finds a friend and supporter. "Suddenly, I felt that at least as an artist, I was on a good path. That gave me a real energy boost. Suddenly, everything made sense. I knew again who I am and how it should continue."
The consequence of this realization is "Everyone Hates Ferris". Created with Olli Bockmist, Chris, and π from Lord of the Lost, as well as Ruben Roeh and the entire Failed World, it has become an album with its own crossover sound between college rock and fun punk. Self-ironic and also self-reflective, socially critical yet without a raised finger – because that prefers to play the keyboard of all conceivable emotionalities up and down.
"Everyone Hates Ferris" is an album of contrasts that perfectly complement each other. "Partisans" is pure rock chaos and coming to terms with the past in one, while Ferris pokes fun at himself with "Everything Out of Control". "Skid Row" with Shocky and SWISS is the soundtrack for all the broken ones, alongside FiNCH, Ferris engages in a different kind of work refusal with "Leisure and Cake" and delivers a long-overdue slipper hero anthem with "Sweetheart Said".
But then there are also songs like "What Remains?" with SDP member Dag, where the two broken souls harmonize perfectly in their bittersweet melancholy, and the songified middle finger "IGKF", which closes the circle to the album title. "Many artists have this problem because they are always measured against their first albums. People always want the old Ferris back. The thing is: they actually have the old Ferris. But what they want is the young Ferris. But that young Ferris can't exist anymore because we all get older – the fans and I too. That's just the nature of the thing. I just do what I like, send it out – and the rest is not in my power," says Ferris - and he's right.
