Ton Steine Scherben, Die Toten Hosen, Blind Guardian, Rainbirds, Wizo, Terrorgruppe, Slime. When musicians and former musicians from the mentioned bands come together on an album, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary record being released.
For almost a year, the second solo album by Der Ole has been produced with great attention to detail. 124 guest musicians from 26 countries around the world join hands on "Durch die Zeit." In addition to musicians from the strongly represented German punk rock scene – including Betontod, Planlos, Massendefekt, Sondaschule, and Normahl – pop stars winner Markus Grimm (Nu Pagadi), actor Mars Saibert (Unter Uns, The Voice of Germany), and Berlin-based Diane Weigmann can also be heard on the new album.
Durch die Zeit is a musical, biographical, and communal work of art, fulfilling a long-held wish of the former Massendefekt frontman. With creative and provocative rhetoric, stories from life are told. The big band plays loud and soft, emotionally rich and hard, shaped by punk, pop, and rock.
Der Ole – a 41-year-old vegan from the Lower Rhine, has consistently refrained from any consumption of alcohol for over 10 years. The songwriter is one of the first musical protégés of the much-too-early deceased Wolfgang "Wölli" Rohde (Die Toten Hosen) – using music to express his political views. Thus, songs are sung against all manifestations of right-wing violence ("Die Stunde," "Achmed und die Anderen") and cooperation with environmental protection organizations like Sea Shepherd Germany is established. Last year, spontaneous concerts were held in the Hambacher Forst near Kerpen and as part of the Fridays For Future movement.
The new album Durch die Zeit was produced by Amadeus Sektas, contains 16 songs, and will be released on 14.08.2020 by the Hamburg record label Alster Records as a limited box set (including quartet game), vinyl, CD, MC, and digital.
